• The feature to combine partial messages (RFC 2046, message/partial) was added.
• Users can move up/collapse/expand the folder view using left/right arrow key now.

• When inline image setting is off, images are not displayed in the Attachment tab too.

08 Jul 2010 Replaced Sylpheed 3.0.3 (stable) source package

The source package of Sylpheed 3.0.3 has been replaced.

The source file (XML format) of English FAQ and GFDL 1.2 text file has been added. There are no changes in the source code itself.

Sylpheed 3.0.3 (3.0.3-win32) has been released.

In this release libpng and libtiff, image libraries included in Windows version, were updated to libpng 1.2.44 and libtiff 3.9.4. This fixes some security issues. The users of Windows version are recommended to update soon.

If you are using 3.1beta1 or older version, overwrite the existent files with libpng13.dll and libtiff3.dll in sylpheed-win32-imglibs-fix2.zip

In this release, OpenSSL library included in Windows version was updated to 0.9.8n. If you are using SSL connection with Windows version, it is recommended to update as soon as possible.

If you want to update only OpenSSL, overwrite the installation directory with files in openssl-0.9.8n-win32-bin.zip.

Sylpheed 3.0.1 (3.0.1-win32) has been released.

24 Feb 2010 Sylpheed 3.0 (stable) released

The new stable version Sylpheed 3.0 (3.0-win32) has been released.

It is the major update release since the release of 2.0, five years ago. Sylpheed 3.0 introduces multi-threading, plug-in system, refined address book, new setup dialog, performance improvements, and more.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the improvements of Sylpheed.

23 Apr 2007 Sylpheed 2.4.0a-win32 (stable) released (SSL issue fix)

Sylpheed 2.4.0a-win32 has been released. This fixes the SSL issue in 2.4.0-win32, which introduced random crashes on SSL session. Please upgrade it immediately.

The new OpenSSL DLLs in 2.4.0 linked MSVCR71.DLL while others link MSVCRT.DLL, so it introduced an inconsistency. To fix this, they are temporarily reverted to the previous version in 2.4.0a. Other files including sylpheed.exe are same as 2.4.0. There is also no change in the source code.

2.4.0 includes feature enhancements which were especially requested by users many times, along with various feature and quality improvements. In Windows version, the performance of drawing and network communication has been improved, and Windows Vista has been supported.

The latest stable version Sylpheed 2.3.0 has been released.

2.3.0 provides the new printing function and new mail notification by the tray icon. 2.3.0 also includes various usability improvements. In Win32 version, the included GTK+ library has been updated to the latest 2.10.6, and it introduces the improvements of usability and bugfixes.

27 Nov 2006 Suspension of the distribution of specific versions of Win32 binaries

Because of the license issue, the distribution of the binaries from Sylpheed 2.1.6-win32-beta6 to Sylpheed 2.2.6-win32 was suspended.

These versions include GPGME library (libgpgme-11.dll) which came from WinPT. These dll seems to be built from the CVS version of GPGME, but the corresponding source codes are not distributed. The current state doesn't fulfill GPL/LGPL, and I'm not provided the source code from the author of WinPT yet. So I decided to suspend the distribution of the corresponding binaries.

However, Sylpheed 2.2.7-win32 or later include self-built DLL from GPGME 1.1.2, so they don't have a license issue. If you are using the corresponding version, please upgrade to the latest version.

I apologize for inconvenience caused by the lack of consideration.

Sylpheed 2.2.0beta7 Win32 binary has been updated.

The previously released binary didn't work on Windows 2000. This is because there is an incompatibility between Windows 2000 and XP about the management of IPv6 related API. IPv6 support will be disabled for now, and it will be enabled at the future version.

There was a bug that caused buffer overflow in the LDIF import routine of the addressbook. This bug exists in every version since 0.6.4. It only affects when the LDIF import feature is used.

19 October 2005 Sylpheed for Windows beta release (beta1)

The beta binary of the Windows version has been released.

The current Win32 version is not a separated tree from the original one. Both Win32 and Unix binary can be generated from the single codebase.

The configuration files and message data are completely compatible with those of Unix version (excluding file path information), so you can migrate them one another.

Unlike the previous GTK1-based sylpheed-win32, the current GTK2-based Win32 version has been greatly improved in terms of stability, performance, and affinity with Windows environment. At this time (2.1.4), the basic features are almost complete as well as the Unix version.

Eventually the same features as Unix version will be implemented in Win32 version, but currently some of the features (such as external editor, actions, PGP) are not implemented.

Sylpheed 2.1.0 (development) has been released.

2.1 is the development version towards 2.2 (next stable release).

Since this version, the support of Win32 platform (MinGW) has been started. The build of Win32 version requires the latest version of MinGW, MSYS, and GTK+ 2.6 development libraries. It is required to apply a patch to GLib to make the networking work correctly.

It is confirmed to work on Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP2. There is no plan to support Windows 95/98/98SE/Me for now. There are some restrictions of the features with Win32 version compared to Unix (such as external editor and Action function).
